Corendon Airlines has made its first flight from Brussels to Gazipasa-Alanya Airport (GZP), following its initial route from the Netherlands. Passengers were welcomed with a ceremony at the airport.
Corendon’s inaugural base flight connecting Brussels, the capital of Belgium, to Gazipasa-Alanya Airport (GZP), operated by TAV Airports, was marked with a traditional water cannon salute. The ceremony was attended by Gazipaşa District Governor Orhan Altun, Alanya Municipal Council Member Nazmi Zavlak, Alanya Touristic Hoteliers Association (ALTID) President Burhan Sili, ALTID and Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) Vice President Mehmet Dahaoglu, Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and ALTAV Board Member and ALTID Vice President Sukru Cimrin, Corendon Alanyaspor Club President Hasan Çavusoglu, as well as representatives from the tourism sector. The 189 passengers who arrived in Alanya on flight XC7655, operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, were greeted with flowers at the terminal.
“Largest Flight Operation Ever Witnessed at GZP”
ALTID President Burhan Sili stated that the largest flight operation in GZP’s history has taken place. He expressed his gratitude to Corendon’s entire staff and management, stating, “This is a process we have been waiting for for a long time. In this sense, we thank Corendon for making Alanya their base and ensuring significant capacity here. We also have different airlines coming from abroad. We thank them for the operations they have organized. However, it is necessary to say that Corendon’s operation is the largest operation so far. I hope that it will continue to grow and make valuable contributions to our Alanya and Gazipaşa. Direct flights from source markets are important. With the arrival of not only Corendon but also other companies, GZP will reach its rightful place more quickly.”
“Corendon Plans Two Flights from Belgium to GZP”
ALTAV Vice President Mehmet Dahaoglu: “Corendon Airlines has given us the best news of the year by announcing that they will be using GZP Airport as their base. Spring has truly arrived for Alanya. Corendon Airlines has made significant investments in the region. They played a major role in the development of Sabiha Gökçen Airport to its current state. It appears that they will make a similar contribution to the development of our GZP Airport. As ALTAV, we held talks and made requests with them, as we do every year, to bring in planes from the Netherlands this year. They did not leave our request unanswered either. A Dutch plane landed at GZP the other day. Today, a Belgian plane landed as well. Two flights a week are planned from Belgium. 870,000 passengers are planned for GZP this year. Corendon Airlines also expects an additional 200,000 passengers with a 38% increase in capacity. I hope that this successful operation carried out by Corendon Airlines will be an example for other airlines and will ensure that more tourists come to both Alanya and Gazipaşa.”
“GZP PASSENGER NUMBERS INCREASE”
TAV Gazipaşa General Manager Oğuzhan Karatürk, who stated that GZP’s passenger numbers have increased, said: “We expect an increasing number of flights at our airport with Corendon and our other airline companies. Our plane arrived from Brussels, it will stay here overnight and will continue its flights to 17 destinations in 7 countries with Gazipaşa. In this way, flights between Gazipaşa and Europe will have the potential to grow faster. This was something we were expecting.”
